Fog over Ortiz
ORTIZ MOUNTAINS
The Ortiz Mountains are an ancient volcanic range that run like a spine from just outside the New Mexican city of Santa Fe south and west of Albuquerque. A heavy mineral area they host the old ore and turquoise mining towns of Madrid, Golden and Los Cerrillos. They are the site of ancient Hispanic Land Grants, deep springs and rugged peaks. Throughout the ‘monsoon season’ moisture drops into the Ortiz dramatically and unexpectedly. I caught fog over the Ortiz one morning.
