Mountain Lake
NORTH POLE BASIN, ELKO PARK, SOUTHERN COLORADO
A high altitude, bright early sunrise, looking at the basin lake - on the side of North Pole Basin. The bright yellow/gold of the lake is indicative of the high altitude atmosphere (13,500 ft) and unfiltered air.
Elko Park and Schofield Park are remote Mt. Parks that connect to the valley that leads to Gothic, Colorado. Gothic is very small and is the home of the Rocky Mountain Wildflower Research Station. Further down the mountain is Crested Butte Ski Resort, the old mining town of Crested Butte and Gunnison.
