Saguaro Doorway
UNKNOWN CHURCH, BORDER OF MEXICO-USA
Hispanic churches built in the late 1500’s and 1600’s in this Southwestern area have simple, tucked away corners called a Sanctuarium. Places of peace, solitude, dim light and a reported healing presence- of the walls, the dirt, the light and shadows…just the way the seat is angled.
With a doorway built of Saguaro cactus ribs, a hand carved stone seat, dirt floor – this small, humble Sanctuarium has seen several generations of humans seeking its comfort.
I was grateful to have discovered this place …and the light
